DC Tharparkar Chairs District Polio Eradication Committee Meeting, Reviews Preparations for April Campaign

A meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar Abdul Haleem Jagirani in his office today.The meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming Polio vaccination campaign starting from April 13 in Tharparkar, including the micro-plan and other arrangements were discussed in the meeting.
During the meeting, the DC directed concerned Officer to complete the micro-plan and ensure all necessary arrangements to achieve the target. While speaking at the meeting, he said that no compromise would be made on the coverage of the polio vaccination campaign.Negliance would not be tolerated in this regard, he added. He said that due to the joint efforts of the district administration and the health department, Tharparkar has maintained the status of a polio-free district since 1999, which is a positive sign for the people of the district.
He further said that if any issue arises during the campaign, it should immediately be reported to the relevant Assistant Commissioner.
During the briefing, the Health Department’s focal person for the polio campaign, Dr. Bharat Kumar Soni, informed the participants that the polio vaccination drive in Tharparkar will commenced from April 13 and will be continued up to April 16, 2026. A total of 317,171 children under the age of five years across 71 Union Councils in seven talukas of the district have been targeted to administer polio drops, while 1,384 teams have been formed, including 1,248 mobile teams, 72 fixed teams, and 64 transits teams .He added that 289 area in-charges will supervise the teams to ensure 100 percent coverage to achive the target as well.
Expressing satisfaction over the briefing, the DC emphasized the need to start awareness campaigns and validation activities before the campaign. He directed that children in border areas, madras’s, and all children under five years of age must be covered. Concerned officers from various departments attended the meeting.
