DC Tharparkar Chairs Emergency Meeting to Prepare for Forecasted Stormy Rains
Mithi – In view of the forecast of heavy stormy rain by the Meteorological Department and in the light of direction of PDMA an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar, Abdul Haleem Jaghirani,at his office today .The meeting was attended by officials from local government bodies as well as other relevant departments of the district.
While addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed all officials to formulate strategies to effectively deal with the situation before and after the rain, and to prepare contingency plans and submit to his office.
He instructed local government officials to remove encroachments from drainage channels and ensure their proper cleaning, and to keep drainage machinery and fire brigade vehicles in operational condition. He further directed that immediate steps be taken for the quick drainage of rainwater, especially from low-lying areas such as Sarwan Colony, Revenue Colony, School Ground, and other similar areas in the district to prevent inconvenience to the public.The Deputy Commissioner directed officials of the Health Department and PPHI to ensure the availability of life-saving drugs in all hospitals across the district, particularly in basic health units and rural health centres and to submit reports by this evening regarding the stock of medicines and the current status of ambulances.He further instructed to Rescue 1122 officials to complete all necessary arrangements, especially ensuring the availability of divers. HESCO officials were directed to remain present in the field during the rains and improve their system. They were also instructed to take immediate action on an emergency basis to repair any fallen poles or damaged wires during storms to avoid any untoward incidents.
Addressing all Assistant Commissioners of the district, he emphasized that they are focal persons in their respective areas, and therefore they must remain present in the field and maintain close coordination with all concerned departments he added.
