Inactive CCTV Cameras Undermine ‘Safe City’ Project in Tando Adam

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) The ‘Safe City’ project in Tando Adam has come under criticism as CCTV cameras installed across the city remain non-functional for a prolonged period, raising concerns over public safety and increasing incidents of street crime.

According to residents, cameras worth millions of rupees were installed in various parts of the city to ensure protection of life and property. However, their continued inactivity has not only emboldened criminal elements but also left citizens feeling insecure.

The non-operational surveillance system has also affected the performance of law enforcement agencies, as the absence of functional cameras limits effective monitoring and investigation.

Citizens and members of the business community have expressed serious concern, stating that the Safe City initiative appears to have been reduced to mere announcements and photo opportunities, with no visible efforts being made to restore the system.

They questioned the utilisation of funds allocated over the past years for maintenance and rehabilitation of the cameras, asking why the project has yet to become operational.

Social and business circles in Tando Adam have demanded immediate activation of the CCTV cameras and concrete measures to improve the law and order situation, warning that failure to act may compel them to stage protests.
