Tando Adam’s historic Govt Dr Ziauddin Primary School marks 77 years; former students honour teachers


Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) The historic Government Dr Ziauddin Primary School in Tando Adam marked its 77th anniversary with a graceful ceremony organized by its former students to pay tribute to their teachers.


Former Senator Malik Imamuddin Shouqeen attended the event as the chief guest, while Additional Secretary of Education Ashiq Hussain Khoso and Chairman Municipal Committee Ghulam Murtaza Junejo were present as guests of honour. The ceremony was attended by a large number of alumni, teachers, and education department officials, including Haji Qutubuddin Shaikh, Muhammad Kaleem Arain, Mumtaz Ali Dahri, Prof. Yaad Hussain Shaikh, and Mirza Ashfaq Baig.


Former headmaster Syed Iqbal Ali shared the school’s history, stating that it was founded in 1948 by four students from Aligarh University, India. It was the first boarding school in Pakistan that hosted both local and foreign students. Later, it came under the management of New Aligarh Society and was nationalized in 1972.


Chief guest Malik Imamuddin Shouqeen said he felt proud to have received his early education at Dr Ziauddin School, adding that his teachers’ guidance played a key role in shaping his success. He expressed his commitment to promoting education across the country.


Additional Secretary Ashiq Hussain Khoso emphasized that education should not only be pursued for knowledge but also for practical implementation. He expressed pride in his hometown, Tando Adam, and noted that local female students are now outperforming their male counterparts.


He further stated that 93,000 teachers have been recruited on merit to improve education standards, while schools are now being provided with direct funding to ensure financial autonomy.


Other speakers, including Rafiq Bijoro, Dr Waheed, and Javed Mustafa, also addressed the gathering.

At the end of the ceremony, honorary shields and gifts were presented to teachers and alumni.


The event was attended by Taluka Education Officers Mukhtiar Ali Umrani, Ali Muhammad Bhano, Abdul Khaliq Khoso, Ashiq Hussain Saand, and Abu Bakar Khaskheli, among other notable guests.
