Senator Qurat-ul-Ain Marri reviews OGDCL projects, attends assistive devices distribution ceremony in Sanghar
SANGHAR(Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Senator Qurat-ul-Ain Marri visited Sanghar on Thursday, where she chaired a meeting with officials of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) at the Deputy Commissioner's Office to review ongoing oil and gas projects, local development initiatives and public welfare issues.
Deputy Commissioner Sarah Javed, OGDCL officials and other relevant officers attended the meeting and briefed the senator on the progress of ongoing projects. Participants also discussed measures to enhance coordination for the timely completion of development schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Senator Marri said the benefits generated from the country's natural resources should directly reach local communities. She stressed the need for transparency in the utilisation of development funds and directed OGDCL to prioritise employment opportunities, education and healthcare facilities for residents of areas affected by oil and gas exploration and production.
The meeting also reviewed investment in the energy sector, gas supply and public welfare initiatives. OGDCL officials assured the senator that all ongoing projects were progressing according to schedule and that efforts were being made to complete them within the stipulated timeframe.
Deputy Commissioner Sarah Javed also briefed the meeting on the status of development projects and administrative measures being implemented across the district.
Later, Senator Marri attended a ceremony at Junior Cambridge Hall as the chief guest, where assistive devices were distributed among visually impaired persons. The event was organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) in collaboration with the Pakistan Association of the Blind (PAB) Sanghar and PAB National.
Addressing the ceremony, the senator said the Sindh government was committed to empowering persons with disabilities and integrating them into society as equal and productive citizens. She praised the Pakistan Association of the Blind for its contribution to the welfare, independence and social inclusion of visually impaired people.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, assistive devices were distributed among the beneficiaries. Officials of the relevant government departments, representatives of the Pakistan Peoples Party and members of civil society also attended the event.
