Brother-in-law chops off widow’s hand in Tando Adam village, arrested
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A gruesome incident was reported from a village near Tando Adam, where a man allegedly chopped off his widowed sister-in-law’s hand after she refused to marry him, police said on Wednesday.
According to reports, the incident occurred in village Mir Hassan Mari, where the suspect, identified as Nazar Mohammad Bhatti, allegedly attacked his widowed sister-in-law, Najma Bhatti, with an axe, severing her right hand.
Police said that the injured woman’s brother, Mushtaq Bhatti, lodged an FIR at the City police station, after which the accused was arrested.
Speaking to the media along with her father, Wali Mohammad, and other relatives, the victim said her husband had passed away, leaving behind four children, including a son and a daughter with disabilities. She said she had been struggling to make ends meet through alms, while her brother-in-law had been pressuring her to marry him and would also take away the money she received.
She alleged that upon her refusal, the suspect attacked her with an axe and severed her hand.
The victim further accused her mother-in-law, Khairi, and other relatives, including Babu Khan and a woman identified as Noori, of instigating the suspect. However, she claimed that their names had not been included in the police case.
The family has demanded the arrest of all those allegedly involved and called for justice.
