Tando Adam festival features kabaddi match, cultural show and sessions in memory of journalists
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A kabaddi match, a variety show by primary school students and commemorative sessions in memory of renowned historian and journalist Achar Khaskheli and senior journalist Imam Bux Bhurgari were held here as part of the five-day Jashn-e-Tando Adam organised by Halqa-e-Yaran-e-Sukhan.
The kabaddi match attracted a large number of spectators, with the ground remaining packed until the end of the contest. Chairman of the Municipal Committee Tando Adam, Ghulam Murtaza Junejo, and Faheem Qureshi Commando attended the event as chief guests. They appreciated the literary, cultural and sports activities organised under the festival and paid tribute to Halqa-e-Yaran-e-Sukhan’s leading organiser, Malik Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum, assuring full cooperation for future initiatives. Trophies and cash prizes were distributed among both teams.
Meanwhile, a variety show featuring primary school boys and girls was also organised, during which students presented cultural tableaux and received applause and prizes for their performances.
A commemorative session in memory of veteran journalist and historian Achar Khaskheli was chaired by senior journalist Wafa Raza Chandio. Senior journalists Ashiq Hussain Saand and Gul Hassan Lakho spoke on the occasion, while the session was moderated by senior journalist Riaz Hussain Sanjrani. Speakers highlighted Khaskheli’s contributions to journalism, preservation of historical sites, promotion of culture and advocacy for women’s rights, recalling his fearless reporting and role in highlighting public issues. It was also announced that his newspaper columns would be compiled and published in book form.
Another session was held in memory of senior journalist Imam Bux Bhurgari, where speakers Bagi Mujahid Thaheem, Sardar Shafi Muhammad Saand and Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum paid tribute to his journalistic career and services. The session was also moderated by Riaz Hussain Sanjrani. Speakers remembered Bhurgari as a principled and fearless journalist.
As part of the festival’s ongoing activities, a All Pakistan Mushaira will be held on Monday, with poets from across the country expected to participate.
