Sanghar reviews implementation of National Action Plan
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A meeting of the District Coordination Committee formed under the National Action Plan (NAP) was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Sanghar, under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner Sarah Javed.
Addressing the meeting, the deputy commissioner said that in accordance with directives of the federal and provincial governments, district-level coordination committees have been constituted under the supervision of deputy commissioners to ensure effective implementation of the National Action Plan. She said the committee includes representatives of police, excise, intelligence agencies and heads of district offices of food, agriculture, energy, labour, social welfare, women development, Auqaf and Zakat, along with other relevant departments.
She stated that the primary objective of the committee was to curb illegal activities, particularly the sale and movement of non-custom-paid and unlawful goods. During the meeting, the deputy commissioner sought details from all departments regarding their actions and performance over the past month and directed them to submit their reports at the earliest so that a consolidated report could be forwarded to the federal and provincial apex committees.
Ms Javed emphasised that in view of the prevailing national situation, all officers must remain in close coordination with the district administration and ensure their mobile phones remain accessible at all times. She stressed the need for a prompt and effective response to misinformation and hostile propaganda to prevent panic and the spread of false news.
The deputy commissioner urged committee members to accelerate actions in line with the directives of the provincial apex committee. She also directed strict enforcement of the Beggars Act, establishment of protection centres for children involved in begging, action against illegal hoarding of essential commodities, effective measures to curb drug trafficking, registration of seminaries and strict enforcement of traffic laws across the district.
