Karachi: On the 28th day of the World Culture Festival, the international art exhibition “Peace & Pieces – Volume 5” at the Ahmed Pervez Art Gallery was inaugurated by Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani together with Arts Council President Muhammad Ahmed Shah. Icelandic artist Halldor Ragnarsson and Madagascan artist Mendricka Ratsima were also present.Alongside international artworks, pieces by Pakistani artists Adeela Suleman, Moeen Faruqi, Qamar Siddiqui, Abdul Jabbar Gull, Ghulam Mustafa, Salman Farooqi, Tanveer Farooqi, Chitra Pritam, Imran Soomro, Abdul Malik Channa, Sajid Ali Talpur, Abid Aslam, Aqeel Solangi, Muhammad Ali Khan, Sajid Ali, Uzma Noor, Anam Ashraf, Ramsha Rabbani and Muhammad Owais were showcased. Speaking at the Inauguration, Minister Saeed Ghani said that Ahmed Shah is not an ordinary person, which is why such a grand festival has been organized. “Bringing one thousand artists from 142 countries is not easy. The Arts Council’s performance over the past 15 years is commendable. I once saw this institution as a ruin, and today it is recognized globally. There is no cultural venue in all of South Asia like the Arts Council Karachi. Thousands of students are benefiting from the Council and it is providing the best opportunities to polish their skills.” He added that providing funds is not a favour by the government, “It is the people’s money being spent on the people.” He emphasized that the Arts Council deserves recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records and that Ahmed Shah should be nominated. “Organizing such a massive festival is not easy; people like Ahmed Shah are born once in centuries.” President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah said he was delighted that their vision had been achieved. “Artists from all fields, painters, musicians, actors, and singers are participating in the World Culture Festival. No festival in the world hosts experts from five disciplines. Bringing artists from 142 countries to Karachi is not easy; this is the longest global cultural gathering.” He further said, “We believe in equality. I oppose armed revolution; culture is the greatest weapon of revolution. All artists stand against violence. International artists are highlighting global injustices through their performances. No global diplomatic exercise of this scale has ever taken place. Embassies across the world are in contact with us. This is a unique festival managed entirely by artists.” He added that those who provided funds are all global artists themselves, and more than 80% of the participants travelled on their own expenses. “No other administration like this exists in the world. The government of Sindh is fully supporting the festival, from the arrival of guests to their visits around the city. Our students are doing remarkable work; the dedication of my team and the youth is admirable. Our inspiration is to make the world beautiful.” Renowned artist Shahid Rassam said that “Peace & Pieces” is an international-level exhibition, and this is the fifth volume featuring the works of 21 artists. Artist Muhammad Zeeshan said, “What could be more joyful than seeing a plant you nurtured bear fruit? I am proud to be associated with an institution like the Arts Council.” The international art exhibition “Peace & Pieces – Volume 5” will continue until December 1, 2025, at the Ahmed Pervez Art Gallery, Ahmed Shah Building, and Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi.
