Sanghar:  The Shia Ulema Council, Sanghar district, organized a protest rally on the occasion of Youm-e-Quds to express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people and to oppose the proposed canal project on the Indus River. The rally, led by Akbar Hussain Chughtai, started from the Markazi Shia masjid and concluded at the Tando Adam Press Club.

During the protest, religious leaders including Allama Mashooq Ali Najfi, Allama Muhammad Baqir Chandio, Akbar Hussain Chughtai, and Rais Habib Khan Mari addressed the participants. They emphasized that Youm-e-Quds symbolizes the unity and solidarity of the Muslim world.

Expressing support for the Palestinian cause, the speakers condemned Israeli aggression in Jerusalem and the ongoing violence against Palestinians. They called on Muslim nations and international organizations to take urgent action to liberate Al-Quds and stop Israeli oppression.

The speakers also voiced strong opposition to the proposed canal project on the Indus River, warning that it could have disastrous effects on local farmers and agriculture. They argued that the project could lead to severe water shortages for both drinking and irrigation purposes, posing a serious threat to Sindh’s agrarian economy.

Protesters carried banners and placards with slogans supporting Palestinians and opposing the canal project. The participants urged the government to reconsider its decision and immediately halt the proposed canal project to prevent potential conflict between provinces.

The rally concluded with demands for global support for the Palestinian cause and a call for the government to prioritize the protection of local resources and communities.
