Protest Rally Against Canal Construction on Indus River

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A large protest rally was organized by the Sindh Paak Abadgar Forum against the construction of canals on the Indus River. The rally, led by forum leader Shahjahan Junejo, started from Mari Petrol Pump and concluded at the Jam Nawaz Ali Press Club in Berani.

The rally witnessed participation from various political leaders, activists, farmers, and local residents. Key participants included Awami Tehreek leaders Lal Jarwar, Sattar Rind, Aqeel Ahmed Makorani, Khadim Hussain Katohar, Lal Muhammad, Hosh Muhammad Khaskheli, Abadgar leader Imran Bozdar, Abdul Rehman Khaskheli, JSQM’s Muhammad Ali Khoso, Mari Ittehad’s Sabir Ali Mari, Haji Hakim Mari, Ashiq Hussain Katohar, Khmiso Khan Mari, and Abdullah Khaskheli.

The protesters staged a sit-in outside the press club, voicing strong opposition to the proposed plan of constructing six canals from the Indus River. The demonstrators claimed that the project was a conspiracy to turn Sindh's fertile lands barren.

Addressing the crowd, the speakers stated that they would not compromise on Sindh's water resources and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the project. They warned that if their demands were not met, they would escalate their protest movement across the region.
