Hesco launches crackdown on power theft, recovers dues in Tando Adam
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) carried out a large-scale operation against power thieves and defaulters in different parts of Tando Adam on the directives of Hesco chief, recovering outstanding dues worth hundreds of thousands of rupees and disconnecting more than 50 illegal electricity connections.
The operation was supervised by Tando Adam Executive Engineer (XEN) Ghiasuddin Sheikh and involved SDO-I Meeral Khan, Line Superintendent Faheem Qureshi, personnel of the Discos Support Unit (DSU), Pakistan Rangers and Sindh police.
According to Hesco officials, raids were conducted in Mohammadi Chowk, Tando Allahyar Road, Shahdadpur Road and adjoining localities where illegal power connections and electricity theft were detected. During the operation, illegal wires were removed and taken into custody while substantial arrears were recovered from defaulters.
Officials said a separate operation was also conducted under the Shahnawaz Junejo feeder in villages along Shahdadpur Road against power thieves and consumers with unpaid bills.
Speaking on the occasion, XEN Ghiasuddin Sheikh said the anti-theft campaign would continue without discrimination and directed field staff to intensify operations against electricity theft and non-payment of dues in order to minimise losses and improve the power distribution system.
He said electricity theft was causing huge financial losses to the utility and strict measures were being taken to ensure better recovery and uninterrupted supply of electricity to genuine consumers.
