According to foreign media, the Russian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Hassan Nasrallah's martyrdom and called it a "political murder".
Russia has said the crackdown has more dramatic consequences for Lebanon and the entire Middle East, with the Israeli move sparking a new wave of violence.
In its statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on Israel to immediately stop hostilities in Lebanon.
