Shazia Marri condemns Sanghar honour killing; three suspects arrested

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A young woman was allegedly killed in the name of “honour” in the Chak No. 81 Mang area of Sanghar district on Thursday, police said.

According to police, the victim was subjected to an honour killing incident and her body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the case.

Police confirmed the arrest of three suspects identified as the victim’s brother Khamiso Kundani, father-in-law Fida Abro, and Ahmed Shah. Raids are being conducted at various locations to apprehend other possible accomplices.

Initial investigations suggest that the woman had married Ali Nawaz Abro, a resident of Noshki, around 15 days earlier. She was reportedly brought back from Balochistan two days before the incident.

Meanwhile, Central Information Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party and MNA Shazia Marri strongly condemned the killing, terming it “brutal and unacceptable,” and said that an FIR in the case would be registered on behalf of the state.

She vowed that all those involved would be brought to justice, stating that violence against women in the name of honour cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. She further directed police to conduct a transparent investigation and ensure a strong prosecution so that the perpetrators are awarded exemplary punishment.
