Karachi (Staff Reporter): Incidents of harassment of women in educational institutions have not stopped. A case of harassment has come to light at Sindh Madressatul Islam University, where a female professor from the Department of Environmental Science has filed a complaint against her faculty assistant, Professor Abdul Majeed Pirzada, addressed to the Vice Chancellor. The allegations have been proven, but despite several months passing, justice has not been served. The female professor appeals to the Governor of Sindh Kamran Tessori, Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah, and Sindh Education Minister to take strict notice of this matter; otherwise, such incidents will increase in universities. According to details, a female professor from the Department of Environmental Science at Sindh Madressatul Islam University accused her colleague, Assistant Professor Abdul Majeed Pirzada, of harassment and submitted a written complaint to the university’s Vice Chancellor. However, the university administration formed multiple committees one after another to investigate the matter, but no significant action or decision has been taken. This revelation was made in a second letter written by the female professor to the Vice Chancellor. The professor stated that even though legal proceedings have been completed before various committees regarding the harassment allegation, why is justice still not being served? She is repeatedly asked to recount the incident, but the decision is being delayed. The female professor expressed concern that she is being pressured politically to suppress the matter. She made these allegations after the opposing party allegedly used various negative tactics to suppress and dismiss the case. However, the female professor said she is awaiting justice so that such unpleasant incidents do not happen to other women. Press agencies have received a copy of a show-cause letter indicating that harassment allegations against Abdul Majeed Pirzada have been proven by two investigative committees, and major penalties have been recommended, but the administration has not made a decision. The question remains: why is there a delay in decisions in such cases? There should be firm action against such incidents in universities, not delays.
