Grand Health Alliance stages sit-in in Tando Adam; announces protest at Bilawal House on Oct6
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Doctors, nurses and paramedical staff staged a protest sit-in at Taluka Hospital Tando Adam on September 30, on the call of the Grand Health Alliance (GHA), in solidarity with the All Sindh Employees Alliance.
The protest was led by GHA leaders Muhammad Mithal Pinjaro, Kandiro Khan Rahu, Dr Abdul Waheed, Dr Qazafi Mari, Dr Ashok, Muhammad Ali Khaskheli, Syed Mumtaz Shah, Waseem Khaskheli, Mukhtiar Umrani, Saleem Baladi and Riaz Umrani.
Speakers criticised the Sindh government for failing to address the longstanding demands of employees despite weeks of province-wide demonstrations. They categorically rejected Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s recent remarks on the issue, declaring that “injustice with workers will not be tolerated.”
They demanded withdrawal of the pension reforms notification, a 50 per cent disparity allowance for employees from grade 1 to 22, a 70 per cent salary increase, restoration of the service structure for health technical staff, and payment of group insurance and benevolent fund benefits at the time of retirement, as practiced in other provinces.
The leaders warned that if their demands were ignored, employees across Sindh would escalate their agitation. They announced that the “decisive protest” would be held on October 6 outside Bilawal House, Karachi.
