Blast triggers fire at jeweller’s shop in Tando Adam, losses estimated at over Rs5m

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A blast followed by a massive fire broke out at a jeweller’s shop in Habib Centre, Shahi Bazaar, Tando Adam, on Monday morning, reducing valuables worth millions of rupees to ashes.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 10am when a loud explosion was heard from the closed shop of jeweller Farhan Kamali. The fire rapidly engulfed the entire shop, destroying furniture, jewellery, ceiling fans and other goods.

Local traders’ leaders, including Anjuman Tajran president Mohammad Iqbal Bhatti, vice president Habib Khan Behlam, Naushad Shaikh, Abdul Qadeer Mughal and 15 emergency in-charge Mohammad Aslam Dero, rushed to the spot. They ensured disconnection of the electricity supply and informed the fire brigade.

A fire tender led by in-charge Abrar Qureshi reached the site promptly, and after an hour-long operation, the blaze was brought under control.

Initial estimates put the loss at over Rs5 million.
