Zaireen demand restoration of road travel facilities for Iran and Iraq pilgrimages; protest held in Tando Adam
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A peaceful protest was held in Tando Adam against the suspension of road travel facilities for pilgrims (Zaireen) undertaking religious journeys to sacred sites in Iran and Iraq, under the banner of the Sindh Pilgrims Organisation Tando Adam and Zaireen-e-Abu Abdullah Al-Hussain.
The demonstration was held after Friday prayers at the central Imambargah and was led by Allama Mashooq Ali Najafi, Zawar Ghulam Rasool Khaskheli, Zawar Syed Ghulam Mehdi Shah, and Shah Nawaz Pinjaro. A large number of citizens and pilgrims, including Ghulam Muhammad Saand, Syed Niaz Ali Shah, Syed Khadim Ali Shah, Fida Hussain Subhpoto and Ibrahim Somro, participated in the protest.
Addressing the participants, speakers said that a ban on road travel for pilgrims visiting holy sites such as Karbala and other sacred places had been in place for the past year, causing severe difficulties for low-income pilgrims who cannot afford air travel.
They said that road travel had long been an affordable and accessible option for thousands of devotees, and the suspension of such facilities had created significant hardships for intending pilgrims.
The speakers urged the government to immediately restore road-based travel facilities for Zaireen travelling to Iran and Iraq and to take practical steps to ensure safe, affordable, and convenient arrangements for religious pilgrims.
The protesters peacefully chanted slogans in support of their demands and called for urgent government intervention.
