India’s Water Aggression Unacceptable, Global Action Urged Over Indus Waters Treaty Violations: Rajesh Kumar Hardasani
Sanghar(Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Minority focal person Rajesh Kumar Hardasani has termed India’s alleged violations of the Indus Waters Treaty as unacceptable, warning that such actions could pose a serious threat to regional peace and economic stability.
Speaking to Media, he said the Indus Waters Treaty brokered by the World Bank is a recognised international agreement aimed at ensuring the fair distribution of river waters between Pakistan and India and preventing water-related disputes. However, he alleged that India has been consistently taking steps that undermine the spirit of the accord.
He noted that Pakistan is an agrarian country whose economy largely depends on agriculture. Any disruption in the flow of water allocated to Pakistan, he cautioned, would adversely affect not only agricultural production but also the overall national economy.
Mr Hardasani further said that India’s construction of dams and other water projects affecting the natural flow of rivers is a matter of serious concern and could also undermine regional peace and stability.
He added that Pakistan’s minority community has called upon international organisations, including the World Bank and the United Nations, to take immediate notice of the situation and ensure that India fully complies with the Indus Waters Treaty, guaranteeing uninterrupted water supply to Pakistan.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment, he said the country would continue to raise its voice at all diplomatic and legal forums to safeguard its water rights and defend its national interests.
