Jiye Sindh Mahaz appeals for participation in ‘Tahafuz Sindh March’
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Leaders of Jiye Sindh Mahaz (JSM) on Tuesday intensified their public outreach campaign for the proposed Tahafuz Sindh March scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on December 22, calling upon the people of Sanghar district to participate in large numbers.
Addressing a press conference in Tando Adam, JSM leader Riaz Chandio, accompanied by Parvez Chandio, Ilahi Bakhsh Chachar, Dr Zahid Kairio, Saddam Khaskheli, Zaheer Chandio and others, alleged that Sindh had been deprived of development and prosperity and that Islamabad had handed over the province to what he termed the “Zardari mafia”.
He claimed that Sindh’s education, health, local government system, agriculture and overall infrastructure had been destroyed. He alleged that the writ of the police had weakened in the province and that, under official patronage, a widespread network of drug trafficking was operating, with drug dens established in streets and neighbourhoods, severely affecting the youth.
Mr Chandio further alleged that artificial inflation had been created in Sindh, while sugar mills were deliberately run in December to discourage farmers from cultivating wheat. He also claimed that, under the guise of open courts, complainants were subjected to violence in the presence of provincial ministers, a practice he said did not exist in Punjab.
He held the federal government responsible for the settlement of Afghans in Sindh and demanded the expulsion of Afghans as well as Bengalis and Burmese from the province. He further said that people coming to Sindh from other provinces for employment should be given voting rights in their respective provinces instead of Sindh.
Warning of alleged attempts to turn Sindhis into a minority, he said JSM would resist any move to divide Sindh, adding that Sindh had played a key role in the creation of Pakistan, which was a federation, and injustices against Sindh must end.
He said various political parties and lawyers had also been invited to join the December 22 march and appealed to the people of Sanghar to participate actively to raise their voices for the protection of Sindh and their rights.
