Tando Adam: Stakeholders review Safe City project to curb crime

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Former senator Malik Imamuddin Shouqeen, Municipal Chairman Ghulam Murtaza Junejo and SSP Sanghar Abid Ali Baloch on Tuesday visited the building constructed under the Safe City project aimed at controlling crime in Tando Adam.

During the visit, they inspected the CCTV cameras and monitoring system installed at the facility. Office-bearers of the Traders’ Association, including its president Mohammad Iqbal Bhatti and Naushad Sheikh, briefed the delegation on the progress of the project.

They said the Safe City initiative had been launched with the support of philanthropists to make Tando Adam crime-free. A dedicated monitoring centre has been established, equipped with LCD screens and other necessary equipment to monitor cameras installed across the city.

According to the briefing, a total of 160 CCTV cameras will be installed in phases within the city and in a radius of about 14 kilometres around it. So far, 20 cameras have been installed, while the remaining work will be completed in four phases. The project, however, is facing delays due to a shortage of funds.

On the occasion, former senator Malik Imamuddin Shouqeen and Municipal Chairman Ghulam Murtaza Junejo announced a contribution of Rs500,000 each for the project and assured full cooperation. SSP Sanghar Abid Ali Baloch also pledged to provide IT-related staff to support the Safe City programme.
