Writers, poets and artists’ sacrifices for democracy are unforgettable: Nisar Khuhro

SANGHAR (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that the sacrifices made by journalists, writers, poets, artists, and intellectuals alongside Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in the struggle for the restoration of democracy are an important chapter in history and can never be forgotten.

Speaking to a delegation of newly elected PPP office bearers, including Sindh PPP Coordination Secretary Nauman Sheikh, PPP Cultural Wing Sindh General Secretary Liaquat Ali Shahani, Deputy General Secretary Qadir Saba, President Cultural wing Division Shaheed Benazirabad Nisar Wassan, President Cultural wing Distt: Sanghar Abdul Sattar Khaskhali, Mir Hassan Nohri, Bhai Khan leghari and others, Khuhro said that it is due to these sacrifices that democracy continues to exist in the country today. “Whenever the history of the democratic struggle is recalled, the names of these great personalities will always be mentioned, as democracy’s story is incomplete without them,” he added.

Khuhro urged writers, poets, and artists to join the PPP Cultural Wing to promote Sindh’s heritage, culture, and Sufi message, strengthening both the party and the wing. He emphasized that newly elected party representatives carry a heavy responsibility to spread the vision and manifesto of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari among the people.

Highlighting Sindh’s identity as the land of Sufis and harmony, Khuhro said Muslims and Hindus have lived peacefully together for centuries. He added that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had granted full rights to the non-Muslim community, and PPP remains their true political guardian.

Recalling the past, he said there was a time when mentioning PPP’s name in Sanghar was considered a crime, but today, due to the sacrifices and hard work of its workers, Sanghar has become a stronghold of the People’s Party — a testament to Bhuttoism’s success and the people’s enduring love.
