Massive Protest Rally in Tando Adam Against Illegal Canals from Indus River

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) On the call of the All Pakistan Goods Transport Union, a major protest rally was held in Tando Adam against the illegal extraction of canals from the Indus River. The rally was organized by the Tando Adam chapter of the Goods Transport Union, led by President Shakeel Balouch, General Secretary Shahmeer Khan Chhutto, Vice President Malik Ghulam Mustafa, and Aftab Junejo.


The rally began at Shahnawaz Chowk and passed through various streets before culminating at the Tando Adam Press Club. Participants held banners and placards inscribed with slogans opposing the illegal canal construction and demanding the protection of the Indus River. Chanting passionately, the protestors called for immediate action to save the river.


Addressing the rally, the union leaders warned that illegal canals are causing a severe water shortage, which is directly impacting agriculture and the daily lives of the people. They condemned the government's silence and negligence, calling it a serious assault on Sindh's water rights.


The protestors demanded an immediate halt to the construction of illegal canals, warning that the scope of their protest would expand if their demands are not met. The rally saw participation from a large number of transport workers, civil society activists, and local citizens who raised their voices for the protection of their homeland’s water resources. The event concluded with prayers for the oppressed people of Palestine. Notable participants included Rana Muhammad Idrees, Malik Ghulam Murtaza, Muhammad Ibrahim Baloch, Malik Arif, Alauddin Chandrigar, Muhammad Asif Arain, and others.
