Protest Rally in Tando Adam Against Canal Project from Indus River
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Sand) The Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) organized a protest rally in Tando Adam against the extraction of a canal from the Indus River. The rally, led by district president Zubair Makorani, Amjad Islam, Haji Muhammad Ali Makorani, Usama, Javed, Abdul Qayoom, and Tariq Makorani, started from Muhammadi Chowk and culminated in front of the local press club.
Protesters carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the canal project, chanting passionately to voice their opposition. The demonstrators condemned the construction of any new canals from the Indus River, calling it an illegal move and a direct attack on the rights of Sindh.
Addressing the rally, QAT leaders stated that the Indus River is the lifeline of Sindh, and diverting its water through unauthorized canals is unacceptable. They accused the leadership of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of initially approving the project and now pretending to oppose it for political gain.
The leaders warned that any attempt to steal Sindh's water would lead to widespread protests across the province. "If this project is not withdrawn immediately, the people of Sindh will take to the streets, block roads, and defend their river, agriculture, economy, and constitutional rights," they declared.
The protest concluded with strong calls for the immediate cancellation of the canal plan.
