Tando Adam Bar protests alleged custodial killing in Dadu
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Lawyers of the Tando Adam Bar Association on Tuesday staged a protest within the court premises against the alleged killing of a citizen, Nadir Jamali, in what they termed a “fake police encounter” in Dadu.
The protest was led by Sindh Bar Council member Advocate Altaf Junejo, Bar president Advocate Abdullah Khattak and Advocate Khadim Jamali. Lawyers chanted slogans against the police and demanded accountability.
Speaking to the media, Advocate Altaf Junejo, Advocate Khadim Jamali, Advocate Abdullah Khattak, Advocate Sheikh Javed, Advocate Sanaullah Junejo Advocate Rashid Ali Khan, Advocate Abdul Razaq Saand and others strongly condemned the incident, alleging that an innocent civilian had been killed and the incident was being portrayed as an encounter. They claimed that incidents of extrajudicial killings of civilians by police were increasing across Sindh.
The lawyers demanded registration of cases against SSP Ameer Saud Magsi, SHO Qurban Qambrani and CIA incharge Benazir Jamali, and called for their immediate arrest, dismissal from service and trial under the law. They warned that if justice was not ensured, the scope of the protest would be expanded.
A large number of lawyers, including Advocate Muhammad Bachal Unar, Advocate Vinod Kumar, Advocate Sheeraz Lakho and Advocate Waheed Baloch, also participated in the protest.
