Sindh govt committed to public welfare: MPA Paras Dero

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Paras Dero has said that the Sindh government, under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, is fully committed to public welfare and development.

Speaking to a delegation of journalists, he said the country was facing difficult circumstances due to flood threats, with heavy flows putting pressure on the Indus River. He added that the provincial government was fully prepared to deal with any possible emergency and residents of riverine areas were being shifted to safer locations.

Referring to past challenges, Mr Dero recalled that two years ago a breach in the Rohri Canal had caused heavy losses, submerging several villages and displacing thousands. “With the support of the Sindh government, the breach was plugged within two days, which was a major achievement,” he noted, adding that funds had now been allocated in the provincial budget to strengthen the canal’s banks between RD 25 and RD 35.

Highlighting ongoing development works, the MPA said a 20-bed hospital near Benazir Park in Tando Adam was under construction and would be inaugurated later this year. He added that the Sindh government had provided thousands of houses to flood victims, created jobs for unemployed youth on merit, and launched multiple schemes in education, health, clean drinking water and infrastructure.

Mr Dero further said that road, hospital, and water filtration projects were progressing rapidly in Tando Adam and surrounding areas, while urban issues were being addressed on a priority basis.

Commenting on the issue of converting welfare plots into commercial use by the municipal committee, he stressed that elected representatives must not make anti-people decisions and that any such move should only be taken after consultation with stakeholders and public representatives.

“This is my first tenure, and I am learning a lot,” the MPA said. “Our doors remain open for the people, and we will continue working for their welfare in line with democratic traditions.”
