DC Sanghar chairs meeting to fix flour prices, warns against hoarding and profiteering
SANGHAR(Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Deputy Commissioner Sara Javed chaired a meeting of flour mill and flour chakki owners on Monday to review flour prices and ensure the availability of the commodity at affordable and uniform rates across the district.
The meeting discussed wheat prices, production costs, flour stocks and supply, with a focus on determining reasonable retail prices in the larger public interest.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Javed said providing quality flour to consumers at officially notified prices was the district administration's top priority. She directed flour millers and chakki owners to strictly comply with the prescribed rates, warning that profiteering and artificial price hikes would not be tolerated.
District Food Controller Sanghar briefed the meeting on flour stocks and the allocation of the official wheat quota. Participants also agreed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of flour and to take strict action against hoarding and black marketing.
The deputy commissioner instructed all assistant commissioners to closely monitor hoarding activities and initiate legal action against violators without discrimination.
The meeting was attended by Sanghar Chamber of Commerce Vice President Haji Yameen alias Haji Lalu Qureshi, along with flour mill and flour chakki owners, who assured the district administration of their full cooperation.
