Punjab Continues Excesses Over Water Issue, Water Shortage in Sindh Reaches 50%
Karachi (Web Desk) – Due to Punjab’s illegal extraction of additional water from the Indus River, Sindh is facing a severe water shortage.
According to sources, following the meeting of IRSA’s Advisory Committee, the Punjab government has significantly increased water withdrawal from the TP Link and CJ Link canals without official approval. This act is a violation of the principles of interprovincial water distribution.
Sources state that Punjab continues to commit excesses in the water matter and, ignoring IRSA regulations, is drawing more than its allocated share, which has caused serious harm to Sindh’s agriculture and water supply system.
According to the same sources, Punjab has not stopped its excesses in this regard, and as a result of the continued over-extraction of water from the Indus River, Sindh is now experiencing a 50% water shortage.
