Tando Adam Sindh United Party Protests Against Illegal Canal Extraction from Indus River
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Sindh United Party (SUP) has initiated a protest against the illegal extraction of water from the Indus River for a canal project. The protest is taking place near the Nomat Basal Oil Field, located along the Tando Adam-Jahol Road. Under the leadership of party leaders Sarwar Abro and Baghay Mujahid Thahim, a camp was set up in the area, and the protest entered its second day, with several oil tankers transporting oil from the field being blocked.
Speaking to reporters, Sarwar Abro and Baghi Mujahid Thahim stated that protests are continuing across Sindh, including in the Bubber Lo area, against the unlawful canal extraction. They vowed to continue their demonstration until the canal is canceled, declaring, "We will not allow oil from the field to be transported to Punjab unless the canal is stopped."
The protestors also claimed that the oil field management and local police have been harassing them with threats, but they remain resolute in their efforts. "We are not afraid, and we will continue our protest," they emphasized.
The ongoing demonstration has drawn attention to environmental and water rights concerns in Sindh, with many locals expressing solidarity. The outcome of this protest remains to be seen, as it has gained considerable momentum across the region
