Sindh Food Authority Takes Action Against Substandard Food in Sanghar
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Deputy Director of Sindh Food Authority, Lavet Kumar Maheshwari, conducted inspections at various bakeries, hotels, vegetable and meat shops, grocery stores, sweet shops, fruit vendors, and dairy shops in Sanghar city. During the inspections, harmful substances such as monosodium glutamate (MSG), substandard oil, uric acid, and detergent in milk were detected. As a result, 100 liters of adulterated milk was discarded.
Several shops were also found violating official price lists, selling expired food products, and lacking proper hygiene. Legal action was taken against violators, including fines, warnings, and cleanliness notices in accordance with the food authority’s regulations.
Deputy Director Maheshwari emphasized the importance of ensuring safe and healthy food, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. He acknowledged the support of Assistant Commissioner Shafiq Ahmed Arisar, who has been actively guiding the food authority team in Sanghar.
"We are conducting daily inspections to monitor the quality and expiration of food products in the market. Our aim is to provide citizens with safe and healthy food, especially for those observing fasts. Additionally, we are submitting daily reports to the Deputy Commissioner's office to ensure strict monitoring," he stated.
The Sindh Food Authority urges shopkeepers to comply with food safety regulations and maintain hygiene standards to protect public health.
