Protest Against Canal Construction on Indus River by All Ittehad Aman Council

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) The All Ittehad Aman Council organized a massive protest against the forced construction of a canal on the Indus River. The demonstration, led by Chairman Rais Anwar Ali Khan Marri and President Faqir Qalandar Bakhsh Dero, began with a large rally from Goth Aali Faqir Dero to the Press Club. Hundreds of vehicles participated in the rally, showing strong opposition to the project.

Addressing the protest, leaders including Rais Anwar Ali Khan Marri, Qalandar Bakhsh Dero, Mazar Khan Marri, and Noman Arain emphasized that "Indus River is our lifeline, and we will not allow the construction of any canal that threatens our water resources." They warned that Sindh is already facing severe water shortages, and any further diversions would devastate agriculture, leaving thousands of acres of land barren and millions of people economically vulnerable.

The protestors demanded that both federal and provincial governments immediately halt the project; otherwise, a larger and more intense movement would be launched. The leaders urged the people of Sindh to unite in protecting their water rights, agriculture, and environment.

The protest saw participation from various political, social, and nationalist groups, who strongly opposed what they called the unjust distribution of Sindh’s water resources. Protesters raised slogans such as "No to Indus River Exploitation," "Our Water, Our Right," and "Save Sindh’s Agriculture."

On this occasion, the leaders announced that if their demands were not met, a province-wide movement would be launched in the next phase to protect Sindh’s water rights.
