True democracy, not extremism, key to peace: Awami Tehreek

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Central Secretary of Awami Tehreek, Lal Jarwar, while addressing a press conference at Tando Adam Press Club, expressed concern over the rising lawlessness and terrorism in the country, saying that encroachments on lands and resources were increasing in Sindh and other regions.

He said that the Baldia factory tragedy still awaits transparent justice, as the perpetrators have not been held accountable. Jarwar stressed that apprehensions about Sindh’s unity and the rights of provinces are growing, particularly in the context of the 27th Amendment and the ongoing debate on the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.

According to him, the share of provinces in the NFC Award should be determined on the basis of revenue contribution rather than population, so that resource-generating provinces get their due share. He further emphasized that doors of employment must be opened for the youth, pointing out that even resource-rich districts like Sanghar have not been able to provide sufficient opportunities to local people.

Lal Jarwar noted that only by upholding true democracy and the Constitution can peace and stability be ensured, and that joint efforts are required to eliminate extremism and terrorism from the country.

On this occasion, district president Attaullah Unar, Rano Kundani, Aqeel Makorani, and Alam Laghari were also present.
