Canal Project to Use Floodwater; Sindh Cannot Dictate Terms, Says Uzma Bukhari

Lahore (Web Desk) – Punjab’s Information Minister Uzma Bukhari stated that the canal project will utilize floodwater, and Sindh has no authority to dictate how Punjab manages it.

Speaking to journalists in Lahore, Bukhari questioned why the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is not concerned about the plight of farmers in Sindh. “PPP has been in power in Sindh for the past 17 years. They should focus on their own performance,” she said. “If PPP resorts to misinformation, they will have to answer for it.”

She clarified that no canal construction has begun yet, but stressed that disagreement does not mean the canals won’t be built. “These matters cannot be handled through threats,” she added.

Bukhari reiterated that the project involves the use of floodwater, and Sindh cannot tell Punjab how or where to use it.
