Sindh Government Introduces New Self-Injection for Population Control

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) In a significant move to address population growth, the Sindh government has launched a new self-injection method called "Depo," which will be administered to women every three months. The initiative aims to empower women by giving them control over their reproductive health.

A meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Imran Hassan Khawaja took place today, bringing together representatives from the Population Welfare Department and various non-governmental organizations. During the meeting, Population Welfare Officer Shahabuddin Memon provided a detailed briefing on the department's performance. Ashfaq Ali Sitheo, the provincial coordinator of the implementing NGO, shared information about the self-injection and emphasized that it is entirely voluntary.

Dr. Khawaja highlighted the urgency of addressing population growth, stating that it is not only a national issue but a global concern as well. He assured participants that the district administration would support the new program and monitor its implementation closely.

Dr. Khalida Bibi from the Population Welfare Department elaborated on the use, procedures, and sustainability of the self-injection, stressing the importance of training staff and educating women so they can administer the injection at home.

This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in family planning efforts in Sanghar and other districts, promoting informed choices among women regarding their reproductive health.
