UNICEF holds session on Community-Based Child Protection Committees in Sanghar

SANGHAR (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) In order to further strengthen the Child Protection Unit and ensure that the benefits of the Protection Authority reach every affected individual, UNICEF organized an orientation session on the Terms of Reference (TORs) of the “Community-Based Child Protection Committee” at a local hotel in Sanghar. The session was attended by stakeholders, representatives of social organizations, and local community members.

The training was conducted by UNICEF’s Shiraz Chandio, who briefed participants on the role, responsibilities, and scope of the committee under the TORs. He emphasized that community participation was essential for safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring effective local-level interventions.

Additional Director Social Welfare Muslim Farooq, In-charge Child Protection Authority Sanghar Tariq Rahim Lakho, In-charge Women Complaint Cell Kosar Parveen Qaimkhani, and Early Warning System representative Sabir Hussain Mehr shared updates on the ongoing work and cases being handled by the authority in the district.

Mr Chandio further urged social organizations to raise awareness in their respective areas about child protection laws and report any violations immediately by calling 1121 or informing district officers and the police, so that timely protection could be ensured for children.
