Employees’ Alliance Strike Shuts Down Government Offices, Schools in Tando Adam
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) On the second consecutive day, a province-wide strike called by the All Sindh Employees Alliance brought public sector institutions in Tando Adam to a standstill, as employees protested against recent amendments in the pension policy along with demands for benevolent fund, group insurance, and DRA.
All educational institutions, including New Ali Garh Government Degree College, Shah Abdul Latif High School, Jamia Millia, Sir Syed High School, Fatima Jinnah Girls High School, Sindhi Main Primary School, as well as the Taluka Hospital, AC Office, Mukhtiarkar Office, Sub-Registrar Office, and City Survey Office, remained shut due to the strike.
Following the lockout, protest demonstrations were staged under the leadership of GSTA leader Fazlullah Umrani, PTF leader Lakha Dino Khaskheli, Mukhtiarkar Imamuddin Larak, Assistant Mukhtiarkar Ali Raza Panhwar, Tapidars Ali Rahim Khoso and Sher Mohammad Talpur, Prof. Zulfiqar Jatoi, Zahid Hussain Panhwar, Waseem Channa, Haider Chandio, and Muhammad Mithal Panhwar, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said that the Sindh government had committed an “economic murder” of government employees by amending the pension policy. They vowed not to accept any deductions from lifetime savings and demanded the immediate withdrawal of what they termed an “anti-employee” policy. They warned that the scope of protests would be expanded if the demands were not met.
