Odero Lal Welfare Organizes Mass Weddings for 250 Couples in Tando Adam
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Social welfare organization Oder Lal Welfare held a grand mass wedding ceremony in Tando Adam, successfully marrying 250 couples, including 100 Muslim, 100 Hindu, and 50 Christian couples, according to their respective religious rites.
The event drew participants from Tando Adam, Shahdadpur, Jhol, Sanghar, Matiari, Hala, Tando Allahyar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Moro, Sukkur, Khipro, Mirpurkhas, and Umerkot. The newlyweds were welcomed with traditional drum beats and celebratory music, marking the joyous occasion.
Muslim couples’ nikahs were solemnized according to Islamic traditions, while Hindu and Christian couples’ marriages were conducted according to their respective religious customs. In addition to the wedding ceremonies, the couples were provided with gifts including clothes, gold jewelry, cash, bedding, blankets, and household essentials worth over PKR 200,000. Food and refreshments were also served to all attendees.
The ceremony was attended by notable personalities including Sindh Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Minority Affairs Sham Sunder Advani, Member of the Federal Ministry for Religious Harmony Rajesh Kumar Hirdasani, local Taluka Nazim Ghulam Murtaza Junejo, and other political and social figures.
Speaking to the media, Sham Sunder Advani said that Tando Adam has always been a symbol of peace, tolerance, and religious harmony. He described the event as a reflection of Sindh’s Sufi traditions of coexistence, noting that hosting Muslim, Hindu, and Christian couples on a single stage demonstrates the province’s commitment to social cohesion.
Advani further stated that the provincial government provided each couple with a cash grant of PKR 10,000 to support newlyweds in starting their lives. He added that the government remains committed to protecting minority rights and promoting social welfare, and similar initiatives will continue in the future in collaboration with social organizations.
Chairman of Odero Lal Welfare, Baba Rajkumar, said that rising poverty prevents many families from arranging their children’s marriages. The organization has been hosting mass weddings for underprivileged couples for several years without any discrimination based on religion. He called on the government and well-off citizens to support these charitable efforts.
Rajesh Kumar Hardasani lauded the event as a remarkable example of interfaith harmony, stating that it strengthens the identity of Sindh as a province known for peace and communal unity.
