Cultural fair commemorating Shah Nawaz Khan Junejo opens in Sindh

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A traditional cultural fair held in memory of prominent Sindh classical figure Shah Nawaz Khan Junejo has begun, highlighting the province’s rich folk heritage and indigenous sports.

The fair was inaugurated by the late Shah Nawaz Khan Junejo’s son Muhammad Khan Junejo, who formally opened the event by cutting the ribbon. The fair will continue until December 17.

A variety of traditional games and cultural activities are being organised, including malakhra (traditional Sindhi wrestling), kodi kodi, bull racing and horse racing. Participants from different parts of the country are taking part, attracting large crowds and creating a vibrant cultural atmosphere.

An exhibition of high-breed goats and buffaloes has also been arranged, reflecting Sindh’s strong livestock and agrarian traditions. The organisers said the event aims to honour the legacy of Shah Nawaz Khan Junejo while promoting Sindh’s cultural identity and preserving traditional sports for future generations.

Adequate security and administrative arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the fair and the convenience of visitors.
