Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s 21-day “Awami Theatre Festival” Stages Theater play ‘Zar Parast’


Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi’s 21-day “Awami Theatre Festival” continues to captivate audiences, with the ninth day showcasing the play “Zar Parast” in Auditorium II. Written by Aamir Hokla and directed by Abdul Hameed Rathore, the drama featured an ensemble cast, including Warda Shanzay, Shabbir Bhatti, Sapna Ghazal, Akram Sonu, Ali Raza, Ishrat Malik, Aamir Rambo, Shahbaz Sanam, Abdullah Lala, Aamir Hokla, Ashraf Chiragh and Talha Bhojani. The storyline revolves around Seth Mehboob, a wealthy but selfish man, and his spoiled daughter Alizay. Alizay, estranged from her husband Khalid due to his financial status, epitomizes arrogance and disdain for the less fortunate. As the plot unfolds, Alizay befriends Shan, a reckless young man, who introduces her to a destructive lifestyle, leading to devastating consequences. Fate takes its revenge. Seth Mehboob faces a major setback as his factory is engulfed in flames, jeopardizing his business. Amidst the chaos, Khalid’s friend Sona, disguised as a relative of Alizay’s friend Mahem, outwits Seth Mehboob into transferring his lands. A pivotal character, Baban Miyan, plays the moral compass, emphasizing the value of honor and humility. He ultimately guides Khalid toward forgiveness, resulting in a heartfelt reconciliation with Alizay.  The play highlighted the theme of divine justice, showcasing how arrogance and greed can lead to downfall. The powerful performances and compelling storyline resonated with the audience, who applauded enthusiastically.  “Zar Parast”  leaves the audience with a strong message about humanity and redemption.
